One Day Course - Minimum 6 Hours student contact time over 7.5 hours with breaks (9.00am to 4.30pm)


Upon successful completion the student will receive a 3 year certificate which is compliant to Health & Safety (First Aid) Regulations 1981 and approved by a recognised training body.

Is The Course Compliant With Health & Safety (First Aid) Regulations 1981 ?

You are attending an assessed course which is compliant and delivered in accordance with the current first aid practices of the Health & Safety (First Aid) Regulations 1981

This assessed course will be approved by either ProTrainings Approved Centre #92122 or First Aid Industry Body (FAIB) 10/16 (670). 

Will I Be Classed As A Qualified First Aider If I Pass This Course ?

Under HSE guidance, a first aider is someone who has undertaken training appropriate to the circumstances and must hold a valid certificate for which Emergency First Aid At Work is one of those certificates.  However, employers need to use their findings of their first aid needs assessment to decide the appropriate level to which their first aiders need to be trained.


Emergency First Aid At Work (EFAW) training enables a first aider to give first aid to someone who is injured or becomes ill while at work.


First At Work  training includes the same training as EFAW and also equips the first aider to apply first aid to a range of specific injuries and illness.

What Will I Learn ?

This is a practical hands on course with learning modules.  Where available you will be be using the latest equipment such as our Prestan Professional 2000 range of manikins which provide immediate feedback on your CPR technique both on the manikin and on our screens.  During the course our instructors will be teaching you current first aid practices necessary to handle situations confidently.  Learning modules are subject to change and can include:-

Will There Be Some Kind Of Test ?

Yes.  All assessed courses require the training provider to continuously observe the students and will need to successfully pass a multiple choice assessment aswell as all practical assessments.

Can I Fail The Course ?

We call it referral rather than fail, but yes it is possible to fail.   Some examples of when students can be referred to take the course again:- if they arrive late and beyond the acceptable time of an already started course, likewise if they they leave before the course has finished.  Conduct and/or poor behaviour to fellow students or the trainer. There is a pass mark on both the multiple choice paper and practical assessment.  Both assessments do require to be passed for the student to successfully pass the course.     

Is There An Eligibility Criteria To Attend This Course ?

Yes. Students need to have a basic level of English aswell as physical ability to be undertake practical training and its assessment.

What Do I Need To Wear & Do I Need To Bring Anything ?

Clothing: Wear comfortable and practical clothes for kneeling, sitting, standing and leaning forward. Loose clothing such as jeans, leggings, track suit bottoms, would be appropriate.  Short length items such as skirts and shorts aswell as loose fitting tops would not be advisable.


Photo identification: Please bring with you photograph identification for certification purposes.  Identification such as driving licence, passport, residence permit, company identification, student union passes are all acceptable.
